Gabrielle's parents lovingly adorn her with her beautiful tallit at the Jewish Center of Princeton during her pre-mitzvah synagogue portrait session. Prior to the real service and the celebration, I often photograph a "rehearsal" session where the child and immediate family pose for portraits. Often the rabbi and/or the cantor help for a portion of the photo session, and family is dressed in the temple clothes they will wear to the service.
I love to light the synagogue in unique ways, for both dramatic and soft portraits. The Jewish Center of Princeton is one of my favorite synagogues - it's small but gorgeous inside, with a gorgeous pained arc and raised, enclosed bimah. The artwork there makes for great backgrounds as well.
